Why I Love TCNJ (The College of New Jersey)
Meet Brand Ambassador Candidate, Kristen Toro from TCNJ (The College of New Jersey)
TCNJ is not a huge school, it does not have an enormous class, and it is not located in a big busy city. But what TCNJ lacks in size it makes up for with its BIG personality.
What I love most about TCNJ is how big it feels relative to its moderately small size. There is always something to do on campus. There are so many clubs to choose from, and every single student can find a place where they feel that they belong. There are varsity and intramural sports for athletic students, Ethnic clubs for cultured students, various major-specific clubs, and plenty of sororities and fraternities. There is even the Harry Potter Club which hosts a sorting ceremony each year and the Manhunt Club which holds a campus wide Zombies versus Humans event which is so much fun to participate in! On top of that, if you couldn’t find a club of interest to you, you could easily start a new one!
With so many ways to get active and involved I never feel alone on campus. There is always a familiar face nearby which provides a sense of comfort, community, and belonging. When I moved on campus Freshman year, I was terrified and thrown on a floor with 50 complete strangers. However, my fears were easily forgotten a week later when these fifty strangers became my closest friends. I love TCNJ because it introduced me to so many people and helped me transform from a fearful freshman to a confident and outgoing student.
In addition to providing a variety of clubs and activities to participate in, TCNJ contributes to each student’s success by providing great classroom opportunities as well. The professors truly care about each student and are fully accessible when help is needed. They are constantly challenging students to think and excel.
I love TCNJ because I always feel like I am part of a friendly and active community. I always have something to do or something to learn and plenty of friends to do it with.
